Deacons and Women in the Church
This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ... 2 Corinthians 9:12-13
In God's plan we are to serve one another in love. Every believer is given precious time and distinct gifts by God the Father -- all to be used humbly in service to others in Jesus' Name, and to glorify God.
Deacons are first described in Scripture in Acts 6:1-4; their responsibilities included the distribution of food to widows. By taking care of practical tasks with wisdom and by the power of the the Holy Spirit, these deacons enabled the apostles to use their gifts for the preaching and teaching of God's Word.
What we do: The Board of Deacons at Cornerstone is made up of men elected to the office by the church body. They meet on the third Tuesday evening of every month, and serve by helping to meet the physical needs of the congregation and oversee the maintenance of the church building and grounds.
The purpose of the Women in the Church (WIC) is to help strengthen the life of the church through prayer, planning of fellowship activities, and service to the church and church families, as well as local communities. WIC also seeks to support local, national, and foreign missions financially and prayerfully.
Our Hope: The deacons and WIC at Cornerstone seek to lead with loving acts of service to the congregation. We desire to be prepared to serve as God gives us opportunity and, by His grace, causes our church to grow.
